Maria, our server in the dining room, could not have been any more patient, attentive, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Dymond, our housekeeper, was especially kind and kept us on time and reminded us of things we needed to do.

The staff was so accommodating and provided everything we needed. One of my dogs was a patient at the UGA Vet Hospital and I was under stress from the travel and concern over my Golden Retriever (my sister and I are senior citizens). I stayed here 3 nights and 3 days with my sister and my two dogs. Oh yeah, the breakfast Flaky Golden Croissant EBC sandwich is out of this world - try it!! We will be visiting this hotel again.Nicest employees I have ever experienced. We believe that any one would love to visit this hotel. This was our only 'gripe' with the management and sneaky 'managers party' invite. I promptly interrupted their discussion and told them to give me the bill for payment. I did not want to make a scene as the other managers gathered around in a circle (like football referees) to discuss the 'situation'. OUCH!! We were supposed to have been told that the wine tasting was $15 pp, but we were not. Well, we decided to go to dinner at De Palmas Italian (loved it!) and as we were leaving the manager presented us with a bill for the wine tasting. We enjoyed the selection of wines (Alomos) and wondered why the manager kept hanging around us, trying to please. Silly us, we thought this was part of the managers party as they told us about the wines they were serving. We checked our rooms and beat feet back down to the party and saw a couple of guys proudly standing behind a table serving wine. We checked in at about 5:30pm and were told there was a managers party going on and were welcome to join. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the front door we were immediately greeted and welcomed.

We made our choice for this hotel based on an internet search of the local hotels. We like to travel and prefer upscale accommodations. We are about to become empty nesters! We went to Athens to tour the University of Georgia to help our children make their decision on which college to choose. Most of the night, I found myself being awakened by toilets being flushed in adjoining rooms, as did my wife. Of note, I graded the sleep quality as "poor" because of one major flaw with the outfitting of the hotel: The toilets sound like shotguns when you flush. In this case, the facility hits the mark the staff and the service, not so much. When you work in hospitality (and I have), details are of the utmost importance.especially when your aim is to project this type of upscale appearance. I'd say that this hotel is one of the two best in town, but with Foundry Park Inn just down the street, they will probably be getting my future business. Obviously, the staff has some issues with looking over their reservations and being aware of what's going on and what is needed for each of their bookings. By this point, we were drained and it just seemed useless to go back and complain. On top of that, we arrived at our room to find no "Indulge Package".i.e., the chocolate wasn't there, nor any type of voucher for Starbucks coffee which was supposed to have been included. The room was very nice, but that's where it stopped. Made for a great Valentine's evening atmosphere. Instead, we were stuck with a second floor room with a beautiful window view of a local fire station and their million-watt security lamp. Had I wanted to pay less for a lower-level room, I would have done that.
HOTEL INDIGO ATHENS BALLROOM FREE
How do you "run out of rooms" when one of those should have had our name on it for some time? To their credit, they did knock the room charge down from $186 to $100 and comped the parking (which didn't matter because we managed to secure a parallel spot adjacent to the hotel that was free anyway), but the money was never the issue.

SERIOUSLY? Nevermind that we had a standing reservation and a card on file. We arrived at approximately 10:45pm only to be told that they "ran out of penthouse rooms" - and this is to quote the desk manager. I then called the hotel about 4 days prior to our stay to let them know that we would be checking in late, between 10 and 11pm. I made this reservation over a week and a half in advance and gave my credit card number to hold the room.
HOTEL INDIGO ATHENS BALLROOM WINDOWS
I specifically requested the King EXECUTIVE room as these are the penthouse rooms with wall-to-wall windows and inherently better views than most below them. That said, there was one aspect of our stay that really disappointed us. I have to say that the overall experience was very good and the hotel is beautiful. I booked a King Executive room with the indulge package (chocolates and coffee) for my wife and myself for Valentine's weekend for something different and away from home.
